Some people theorize that one extra factor that made the Titanic sink was added weight from loads and loads of time-travelers attempting to prevent it from sinking.
Anonymous said: I was just wondering what you plan on doing for the 101 anniversary of the sinking this year? i want to get involved with as much as i can! i already plan on watching the movie and possibly reading a few books. :) thanks!
Unfortunately, I have no special plans except to go to work. :) I followed the Titanic Voyage Twitter last year, which follows the events “in real time,” but I’m in California so “real time” for me means a lot of tweets were made while I was sleeping. I loved getting the updates, but the twitters kept waking me up. I’m debating if I’ll do that again this year, but I recommend everyone following it at least one year. It’s really neat to think about the events as they would have happened 100 years ago.
I usually spend the entire course of that year’s anniversary telling family members what happened as I remember them (pretty basic information, such as “Titanic set sail today!” and “Titanic hits the iceberg tonight!”).
I don’t normally watch the movie, but doing some reading might be a good idea for me this year, too. I started “Echoes of Titanic” by Mindy Starns Clark and John Campbell last year, but I haven’t finished it yet. (I have a tendency to misplace books while I’m in the middle of reading them. Oops.)
Anonymous said: Hi, I'm a 15 year old young lady and I am in love with the movie Titanic as well as the real ship, and I have read all biographies, stories, articles, interpretations, and assorted theories about the real incident. I wanted to start a blog to show the wonder of the titanic but the name is apparently taken. Is this tumblr blog still active? If so, is the person who runs this blog willing to trade or sell the name? I only have about $10 now but will the editor be willing? Thank you so very much!
Yes, the blog is active. No, I am not willing to sell it.
